A concept design proposal for a program website in my department. Youth Community Informatics is about technology literacy and engaging kids on their own terms. The design was later adopted to be a Wordpress template but had to be dropped because it did not fit with server regulations set down by the unenthusiastic CITES security team. I really like the design, still, and hope to find a good use for it in the future.
Note the angles with soft edges. Information is cleverly nested in a number of areas and the main feature can easily be an adequate balance of informative and engaging. The combination of bright and soft colors (and textures and gradients) help to give a lively feeling to the design.
