One of my first adventures in CSS drop-down menus JAG85 has gone through a number of different navigation interfaces. If I get around to reduxing the page I'll probably put in some spry-based navigation, but in the meantime they're 100% home-brew CSS. This also means users have to use the site map if they're on Internet Explorer 6, so I ought to switch over to spry. Though you can't see if on this one, sub-menus can also branch out, like on the University drop-down menu. Items highlight as you mouseover. Users are able to get to just about any part of the site by using these drop-downs on the gateway.
